Can you guess who's laughing at the Obama Joker posters, and who is not? Of course you can. It's mere role reversal from all of the Bush cartoons.
But who is the real joke on? You. People that realize partisan politics are only a divide and conquer technique are the exception. But I honestly wonder what percentage of Americans fit into that category. Personally, I don't align myself with any party, nor any politician, though I certainly find myself agreeing with the ideaology offered by some moreso than others.
"These town hall meetings have been orchestrated by the tea baggers and the birthers to just be a free-for-all, make a lot of noise, go on YouTube and show discord," Durbin said."But that is not going to accomplish what we need to accomplish: real health-care reform."
- Senator Dick Durbin
Anyone notice, the irony here? You can't call Barack a joker, but you can call his dissidents teabaggers and birthers. What's most troubling, though, is that while partisanship has always been a joke, this time around we're seeing greater censorship, including Myspace's blocking of uploading the image.
What's really funny about this "joke" is that Barack Obama and George Bush are extremely close to equal. But, truly, it's not funny at all. American people have been fed political propaganda so long, that they can't see past the label. It's like opening a package that reads "Beef" and finding bacon, but not being able to see nor taste the difference.
Don't get me wrong, though. There's much truth in such images. The question is whether or not you put it in your partisan gas tank.
The Obama Joker poster itself is a hit and miss. Although Barack is certainly an agent of chaos, he definitely isn't unpredictable. What we often fail to realize is that America has been on the fast track to Socialism for along time, ever since the days of the New Deal. But he does make a good poster boy for it, doesn't he?
